What people think of you. What they think of your values, your personality, your dependability, the quality of your work and your character. Its something that just exists. Grabbing hold of your personal brand, and making sure that people see you for who your really are, is a task that most of us neglect.

The fact of the matter is, if YOU don’t take control of your personal brand, then either someone else will, or worse, no one will, and it will present itself differently to everyone you meet. How do you take control of your personal brand? What kinds of action can you take to promote it? How does your elevator pitch fit in, and what’s the best way to introduce yourself to those who are in your network?

This interview is a favorite of both Bob and Chris. However, because we had so much fun doing it, the interview definitely ran long. Its a full hour. Some of the language in this episode is a little harsh, thus the explicit tag, but its nothing racy or explicit.

Show Notes:

Twist Image Blog:
http://www.twistimage.com/blog/

Six Pixels of Separation Podcast:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=157616278

Mitch Joel’s presentation with C.C. How does your elevator pitch fit in, and what's the best way to introduce yourself to those who are in your network? This interview is a favorite of both Bob and Chris. However, because we had so much fun doing it, the interview definitely ran long. Its a full hour. Some of the language in this episode is a little harsh, thus the explicit tag, but its nothing racy or explicit.Show Notes:Twist Image Blog:http://www.twistimage.com/blog/Six Pixels of Separation Podcast:http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=157616278Mitch Joel's presentation with C.C. Our friends. Our family. Our workmates. All are sub-networks within the larger network we call our lives. Networks happen every day, and as we change and grow, our networks change and grow with us. We use our networks for information, connections and help. We find great entertainment, deals, and services based on recommendations from our networks. Networking isn’t about selling, its about creating and passing along goodwill to those you work with, like, and respect. When you’re connected, it stops becoming about whether or not you can solve the problem, and instead becomes about whether or not your network can solve the problem. There are a few messes to clean up, the largest being the fact that it seems to be falling apart a bit in Internet Explorer on Windows (darn IE and its poor implementation of web standards). The site renders well in Safari, Firefox, Camino and other web browsers, but not IE. Heres a piece of advice that you can see repeated all over the web. If you are running Windows, install and use Firefox. Its a better browser in many ways, and much more secure than IE. Its not perfect protection, but any help against viruses should be welcome. Looks like Ill have a bit more work there. The second is our RSS feed. If you subscribed to our show directly from our old site, youll need to subscribe again, since the old feed wont be updated anymore. If you subscribed through iTunes or some of the other directories, though, you should be OK. Also, you may notice that you get all of our old shows duplicated in your podcatcher. Thats a known side effect of moving your feed the way we just did. Sorry. Couldnt be helped. Just go ahead and delete the duplicate entries.

So, if you need to resubscribe, our new feeds are located at:

http://www.answers-for-freelancers.com/index.php/about-podcasting/

Now, you might ask, WHY did we change our site to a WordPress Blog? Well, lots of reasons, really. First, its making things easier for us, since now all of us can post to the site, and also we dont have to reload the ENTIRE SITE every time we make updates. You may remember we started off using iWeb, but we werent hosting on .Mac servers, so any little change required more work than we liked.
Second, it makes things easier for you, since WordPress allows for categorization, search and a number of other great ways to find content.

Third, its just a more versatile tool. You can leave comments; both written and audio. To leave an audio comment, just click on the MyChingo button in the sidebar, and away you go! We can add cool tools, like the PodPress player that lets you listen to our shows on your computer very easily. Just click on Play in Pop-up under one of our audio casts and you can surf the web while listening to the show. There are other items as well, but were not even going to attempt to lay them all out here.

Anyways, while iWeb helped us to get up and running quickly, we saw the limits early on, and began making plans to upgrade as soon as possible, and before you had too many programs to duplicate in your podcatcher.

Hope you like the new diggs as much as we do. Welcome!

Episode 7 - Interview: Pia Sjlin of Pia Sjlin Design LLC.

Pia Sjlin has been an independent artist since 1974. Now, oddly enough, the better you do, the more of a look you need to take at your childs TV intake. Sometimes the shows share a common theme, and sometimes they are contests for prizes. Anyway, a couple of his recent tests were contests for some 101 U4BW Schwag, and I said, Id like some of that. And I did pretty good, actually.

So, here you go, Chris and Esmaya wearing their new hats and buttons. This show is the first of the ArtGeeks; shows and posts dedicated to the tech-ier side of being an artist in todays modern world of computers and the internet. Youll also notice that its a category listed on the left side of our blog. By clicking on the Art Geek link, youll be shown a list of posts and shows that have tech tips, software and hardware review, and stories about Art Tech in general.Show Notes:Introduction and Promo: John Cost from the Mac Tips Daily podcast.Bobs ArtGeek Moment:Bob Ostroms new and improved website. You know, the one that Wichita Rutherford has been telling everyone on Satellite Radio about. And, oh yeah, heres Wichitas site again, just for good measure. You can check out Bobs larger-than-life rendering of Wichita in the new logo.FTP Clients: Bob uses Fetch. Chris uses Transmit.Heres a direct link to Apples support site. Also, almost anything you might need to know about your Mac itself can be found by clicking you desktop, then clicking the help link at the top of your screen and choosing Mac Help.iPhoto as a Content Management tool:iPhoto is a part of iLife, which comes with any new Mac. Upgrades can be purchased from Apple.Heres a direct link to iPhotoBuddy. For all sorts of other tools for you Mac, including others to help you manage multiple iPhoto libraries, visit Apples Made 4 Mac products guide.I think thats about it!
